A prestigious law firm is seeking a highly motivated and industrious attorney to join its Estate & Trust Litigation; Estate Planning and Administration practice group in the Pittsburgh office. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on sophisticated estate matters in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft substantive complaints, motions, oppositions, correspondence, and other pleadings for contested estate matters.
- Conduct research and prepare detailed memoranda on various probate issues.
- Draft and respond to interrogatories, subpoenas, and document requests.
- Attend client meetings and represent clients at court hearings.
- Prepare comprehensive estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, and irrevocable life insurance trusts.
- Establish durable powers of attorney and medical durable powers of attorney.
- Collaborate with financial professionals to develop strategies to minimize or eliminate estate taxes.
- Design and implement plans to avoid the probate court process and protect client assets through trust creation.
- Administer estates of varying sizes with the assistance of a skilled paralegal team.
Qualifications:
- 5-10+ years of substantive experience in estate planning and estate administration.
- Proven expertise in estate planning and administration; experience with Orphans’ Court litigation and succession/business planning is preferred.
- Outstanding academic credentials with strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet tight deadlines effectively.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
- Forward-thinking, organized, and a collaborative team player.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment with minimal supervision.
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior experience in Orphans’ Court litigation.
- Familiarity with complex succession or business planning strategies.
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to client satisfaction.
